What Are the Common Types of Fabric Inspection Machines and How to Choose Them

Time:2025-11-17 Views:138
Fabric inspection machines can be divided into multiple types based on differences in automation level, detection methods, and applicable fabric types. Each type has its own focus on functionality and applicable scenarios. The following is a detailed explanation of common types and selection methods:

A. Common types of fabric inspection machines
1. Classified by degree of automation
This is the most core classification method, which directly determines the detection efficiency and manual dependence:
Manual fabric inspection machine (semi-automatic fabric inspection machine)
Features: Relying on manual visual inspection, the equipment only provides auxiliary functions such as fabric conveying, flattening, lighting, and fabric rolling. The operator observes defects during the operation of the fabric and manually marks them when problems are found (such as pressing the marking button and spraying the marking points on the equipment).
Advantages: Simple structure, low cost, suitable for small batch and low budget scenarios.
Disadvantages: Low efficiency, relying on manual experience for detection accuracy, and prone to missed detections due to fatigue.
Applicable scenarios: Small textile factories, individual workshops, and inspection of multi variety and small batch fabrics.
Automatic fabric inspection machine (intelligent fabric inspection machine)
Features: Automatically identify defects through machine vision systems (high-definition cameras, image sensors), analyze defect types and locations with AI algorithms, and automatically mark them (such as laser marking, electronic tags), while generating quality data reports.
Advantages: High efficiency, stable accuracy, reduced labor costs, suitable for large-scale standardized inspection.
Disadvantage: High initial investment, algorithm optimization is required for defect recognition of complex fabrics such as printed fabrics with dense flower patterns.
Applicable scenarios: Large and medium-sized textile factories, printing and dyeing factories, clothing brand fabric warehouses, especially suitable for bulk fabrics with solid colors and simple patterns (such as cotton and synthetic fabrics).

2. Classify by fabric form
Roll up fabric inspection machine: the most common type used to inspect roll shaped fabrics (such as those coming out of weaving machines or dyeing tanks). The fabric is unfolded from the original roll through a fabric guide system, inspected, and then rewound into neat rolls.
Flat fabric inspection machine: suitable for fabrics that need to be inspected flat (such as heavy fabrics and elastic fabrics). The fabric is unfolded flat on the workbench to avoid wrinkles caused by winding affecting the inspection. It is commonly used for inspecting woolen and home textile fabrics.
Folding fabric inspection machine: After folding the fabric in half, it is suitable for fabrics with larger widths (such as curtain fabric and bedding fabric), which can reduce the inspection process and improve efficiency.

3. Classify by special function
Fluorescent fabric inspection machine: equipped with a UV light source, it can detect fluorescent impurities and unwashed chemical residues (such as bleach) on fabrics, suitable for fabrics with high environmental requirements (such as baby clothing fabrics).
Shrinkage fabric inspection machine: Integrated pre shrinking function, first shrinks the fabric, and then inspects the appearance defects after shrinking to avoid size problems caused by shrinkage in subsequent processing. It is commonly used for pre production inspection of clothing fabrics.
Multi functional fabric inspection machine: integrating fabric inspection, length measurement, rolling, cutting and other functions, suitable for one-stop processing of fabrics before leaving the factory, improving process efficiency.

B.  Selection method of fabric inspection machine
When choosing, it is necessary to consider the four core factors of production scale, fabric type, quality requirements, and budget. The specific steps are as follows:
Clearly define the inspection requirements
Fabric characteristics:
Lightweight fabrics (such as silk and chiffon): It is necessary to choose equipment with soft tension control to avoid stretching and deformation. Priority should be given to fabric inspection machines with soft guide rollers.
Thick fabrics (such as denim and canvas): A powerful conveyor system is required to ensure smooth operation of the fabric, and a high-power motor roll inspection machine can be selected.
Pattern fabric (such as printed fabric, jacquard fabric): If it is a simple pattern, a basic automatic fabric inspection machine can be used; If the pattern is complex (such as camouflage or dense patterns), it is necessary to choose an algorithm optimized intelligent fabric inspection machine (supporting the "pattern comparison" function) to avoid misjudgment.
Defect type: If detecting minor defects (such as missing needles in knitted fabrics), the visual system of the automatic fabric inspection machine is more reliable; If obvious defects (such as holes and oil stains) are the main ones, manual fabric inspection machines can meet the requirements.
